The UNTRM achieved a big success at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, by obtaining two prestigious award medals: Gold medal in the Environmental Protection and Recycling category for its invention “Chachapure filter: System of filter for Dental Wastewater”, and bronze in the category of Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics and Materials for the disabled people for the invention “Device with lingual positioner for disinfection of the oral cavity”.

In this international event, UNTRM represented Peru, with the inventions of researchers Dr. Carlos Alberto Farje Gallardo and Dr. Jesús Rascón Barrios. These inventions are an intra-institutional product of the Tropical Diseases Research Institute (IET for its acronym in Spanish) of the Faculty of Medicine, the Research Institute for Sustainable Development of Ceja de Selva (INDES-CES for its acronym in Spanish), and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FACISA for its acronym in Spanish) of the National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza de Amazonas.

In the world there are three major events on intellectual property and patents, the most important is the Geneva event. In this edition, 72 inventions were presented in the category of Environmental Protection and Recycling, while in the category of Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics and Materials for the disabled, 164 inventions from all over the world participated, of which the UNTRM won with gold and bronze medal, respectively.

It is worth indicating that UNTRM participated for the first time, in 2017, in the Geneva International Invention Show, where it obtained its first gold medal in the scientific area of medicine, with the invention “Procedure for the Generation of Homozygous Twins by Embryonic Bipartition. Currently, with these well-deserved awards, UNTRM proudly represents our continent.

UNTRM congratulates our researchers who represent our university at the highest level. These innovations have the objective of influencing human and the environmental health of the country, seeking to achieve the concept of Single Health or One Health; as well as motivating young students to develop scientific research as the main tool to generate knowledge, transforming the future.
